So the "ginger and me" went on a little adventure this last week. Kam got to go to Jacksonville Florida for a work trip and I got to fly out to hang out with him for a long weekend. It was definitely an adventure to say the least.
Kam flew out a few days before I did and so he came to pick me up from the airport on Wednesday. We went and got lunch together at this place called Newks. It seemed like it would be so delicious but I wouldn't really know because honestly I ordered a salad. A SALAD. I've been on this new kick in my pregnancy recently where I'm really trying to eat nutritious meals and get all my grains, proteins, fruit and veggies in for the day. Lets just say this wasn't my strong point the first half of my pregnancy. But it's never to late to try. I guess it just clicked one day when I finally thought to myself, what I eat my baby eats, therefore WHY would I feed her Taco Bell twice a week? I was the worst. But again, I'm trying to be good. But sometimes I have to splurge on icecream or a donut, or both. ANYWAYS,
We were staying at a really sketchy hotel but it really made the experience that much better, ha. We were surrounded by construction guys who were always drunk and constantly checking me out. I mean I'm a waddling pregnant lady for heavens sake, there's not much to look at! So because of these few reasons, I went with Kam to work everyday and it was SO FUN! Kam works for a steel manufacturing company that makes rebar mesh sheets. Yeah it sounds like jibberish, but it's so awesome. He's learning how to fix all the machines right now and lets just say that's anything but easy. After this trip I respect what my husband is doing so much more. Not that I didn't before, but now that I've spent a few days watching everything that goes on inside those factories, I respect the whole process that much more.
My father-in-laws sister and her family live in Jacksonville and Kam and I were able to spend some time with their family which was super fun! I have never actually met them before so it was wonderful getting to know them and playing with the kiddos. We went to the beach on Friday and it was a perfect day! The weather was slightly overcast and warm, perfect to sit out on the sand and play ALL DAY. The water was soooo freezing, but I enjoyed the sun and the company! It made for a really good day.
The weekend was wonderful! No work and ALL play :) we just hung out and explored Jacksonville. We got brunch together and just spent the day together enjoying being in a new place, it was perfection. Sunday we went to St. Augustine and it was such a cute little town with so much to see! We took the trolley all around town and saw all the historical spots (It was settled by the Spanish in 1565). After taking the trolley around the city and walking around the town, we went the Pirates museum and looked around in there for while. Kam is obsessed with pirates (and vikings) and wishes he could be one so badly, so I thought this museum was fitting. We learned all about the Pirates that passed through St. Augustine and through the Bahamas. I have to admit it was really cool and I learned a lot of new things. I now appreciate the life of a Pirate.
Monday was another work day and I tagged along, I flew home last night and got home around 10. It's always so hard to sleep when I'm home alone, but hey gotta do what you gotta do. So right now I'm holding down the home front just anxiously awaiting my ginger to come home to me. I miss him so much already!
Baby Update-
I am 27 weeks along and SO close to getting to that 3rd trimester. I keep getting bigger and bigger, especially in my face ha. I feel like my face has ballooned over the last few weeks, oh well. My belly button is also trying to pop out ever so slowly. I think within the next few weeks it will be a very pronounced outie. I can already see it trying to make an appearance through my clothes. I haven't had any cravings lately, except for everything I shouldn't eat. My eyelashes have gotten shorter (super weird) and I have no idea how that even happens and its really disappointing. I feel her move and kick and punch mostly at night and early morning, or whenever I am sitting still. Kam has felt her move and kick quite a bit :) she kicks a lot when he talks to her and plays the guitar for her. She loved it already, it's SO cute. I love being able to feel her move around in there, it's the best feeling in the world. We are anxious to meet her and know she's gonna be cutest girl there ever was!
